The Tom Petty estate has signed with Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment to explore film and television opportunities that would honour his legacy and music.

With a 40-year career, with The Heartbreakers, he sold over 84 million records and performed for over 140 million fans across the globe.

Tom Petty died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl and oxycodone in 2017. He had started taking the drugs following a hip injury. He was 66.
