92.1 CITI is proud support the 2019 Pride Winnipeg Festival, May 24th – June 2nd at locations all around Winnipeg!

This years theme: Pride of Colour

“With growing resurgence in the GSRD community, the understanding of marginalized and generally silenced voices has started making and taking over spaces. One of the frequently overlooked and commonly ignored intersection is race and colour of GSRD community. Generally, people of colour and pride are perceived as two ends of the whole community, where one is labelled as the symbol of privilege and the other is categorically oppressed and marginalized. Actively bridging the gap is the only way to bring the holistic GSRD community together.”

Pride Winnipeg Festival–The Pride of the Prairies –is one of the largest celebrations between Toronto and Vancouver of gender, sexual, and relationship diverse (GSRD) people and their allies, supporters and friends. Our Vision is to live in a society in which all gender and sexually diverse individuals can live their life without fear or oppression for being themselves. Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall – May 24th – Time TBA

We’re flying the rainbow flag high above City Hall during Pride Week and we want you to join us! Book off your lunch hour and come down for this annual rainbow flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, 510 Main Street. This is your opportunity to hear about what’s happening during Pride Week and mingle with members of the community.

Pride Vigil – Manitoba Legislature Buidling – May 26th – 8:30pm

The Vigil is an event hosted as an evening of remembrance to those in our community that have passed away or been subjected to hurt and violence. It is a healing event where words are exchanged to mark the tragic events and people affected, as well as love and prayers are offered.

Festival at the Forks – June 1st and 2nd – 12pm – 7pm

With the ongoing success of the expanded Pride Festival at the Forks, the Festival will once again be a two-day event!

Come by on Saturday to be one of the first to check out everything the Festival at the Forks has to offer including the Queer Beer Beverage Tent and Liquor Mart Sky Lounge and enjoy the great view of the entire site.  Visit the community businesses and local artisans at the PrideMART in their new location as well as children and family activities right in the middle of it all!

Come back on Sunday to capture the full energy and excitement of Pride as thousands of members of the community converge at the Forks following the Pride Parade.

The Pride Parade – June 2nd – 11am

Thousands of people are expected to join in the annual Pride Parade through downtown Winnipeg to show off their Pride! Watch as floats and groups show off our city’s rainbow colours! Which float/group will take home the titles that are up for grabs in the Parade Competition? Parade starts 11:00am!
